History of MRHP Malaysia

In 1970 Mr Nik Omar went to Pakistan and studied at Pakistan Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Lahore and graduated in 1975. He went to London and admited at London Foot Hospital, School of Chiropody, Fitzroy Square London. In evening he practiced Homeopathy at Kilburn High Street London and in 1977 he came back to Malaysia, started his first modern homeopathic clinic at Kota Bharu. In 1979 he started the first school of homeopathy by the name of The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia. With seven students in 1979, up till now 2008 the Faculty graduates turns to be more than 3000 student coming all over the world.

In 1984 Dr Nik Omar founded the first National Homeopathic Organization by the name of 'The Registered Homeopathic Medical Practitioners Association - MRHP. This oraganization was gazzetted by Malaysian Parliment No.1048/84 on July 23, 1985.
Thus it become the first and the most active homeopathic organization in Malaysia. Up till now MRHP has never stop spreading homeopathy in Malaysia and worldwide.
Under the leadership of Prof Dr Sir Nik Omar, MRHP has a proud record of the most active homeopathic organization in Malaysia.

Uptill now ear 2008, MRHP has organized 30 National Seminar and 6 International Conference on Homeopathy in Malaysia.

General Concepts of Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia

Unit of Strength of Homeopathic Medicines

The German Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia sometime holds to the hahnemanian methods, i.e. one-hundred drug strength but often deviates from many other methods and categories of preparation. The drug strength differs from class to class. The HPUSA has preferably adopted the uniform of one-tenth drug strength except in cases of a few drugs.

In order to obtained the uniform one-tenth drug strength of tinctures, the HPUSA has taken a dried drug as the unit, i.e. one gramme of drug in ten millitres of tincture. In the preparatin of mother tincture made from fresh plants, the plant moisture is taken into consideration when calculating the one-tenth drug strength. The HPI accept the new methos of HPUSA in the preparation of tinctures except in cases of poisonous chemicals, venom, etc.

Homeopathic Medicine

As per homoeopathic philosophy and concept, a substance can be or can become a homeopathic remedy only after the pharmacist has processed the crude product on nature in accordance with homeopathic technique in order to develop its inherent properties and to make its medicinal properties ready to use.

Method of Procuring Medical Substances

Vegetable substances: All vegetable and animal product are to be collected fresh as far as possible and must be obtained from a reputed and reliable source either foreign or local, but preferably in their natural formal state and proper indentification shall be carried out before using them.

General Treatment of Dried Plants

After their collection they should be carefully dried by tying them in loose bundies, and hanging them in shade, protected from sun, rain, dust, etc. Drying in oven must be avoided.

Odorous substances are to be kept in separate vessels so that peculiar odour of such drugs may not be transmitted to other drugs. They need gentle drying or preferably preparation in their fresh state.

Animal Substance : These substances, e.g. Naja Trip., Crot Horr., Apis, Canthris, Blatta Oreint.etc should be collected from healthy animal specimen.

Mineral and Chemical Compounds: Indentity, purity and specification must comply with those laid down in monographs.

Indonderabilia: Energy available form physical and narural sourses, e.g. magnetism, electricity, luna, Infrared Ray, X-Ray, radium, etc are also utilised in preparing some homeopathic drugs.

Nosodes: Nosodes are disease tissue-product or excreation of living organisms ( .e. plants and animals ) and bacterial or viral products. They should be collected aseptically and in their most virulent form.

Sarcodes: sarcodes are healthy tissue-product or secretions of living organism, i.e. plants or animals. Collect them avoiding contamination including with associated tissues and secretions.

Allersodes: These are preparation from allergens are processed like noseds.

Isodes: These are prepartion from excipients and are triturated like chemicals.


General Method of Preparation of Homeopathic Medicine
1. Mother Tincture: From original substances, either plants, vegetables, animal, nosodes, sarcodes, mineral, etc. in 'Q' form

2. Solutions: Either purified water - aqueous solution. There are substances which are soluble in water and not alcohol. And also alcohol.
The alcohol are being used where the preparation containing the indredients of the drugs which are soluble in alcohol, normally with the one-tenth of drug strength.


3. Maceration: Maceration process is used in such cases where the homeopathic drug material requires ample maipulation for the extraction of medicinal properties. Gummy and mucilaginous substances and those having much viscid juice which do not allow alcohol to permeate the mass readily in the process of percolation are macerated.

4. Percolation: This method is adopted for the extraction of dried drugs, dry vegetable substances and other organis ( animal) substances. Reduce them to powder form according to one of the grades of fineness specified.

5. Potentisation: Is a special method in homeopathic practice where by the preparation of potencies of liquid drug substances there scales are generally used i.e. (i) Decimal Scale (ii) Centesimal Scale.

6. Decimal Scale: The decimal scale is based on the principle that the first potency should contain one-tenth part of the original drug and each succeeding potency should contain on-tenth part of the potency preceding. This scale was introduce by Dr Hering and is denoted by suffixing the letter "x" to the number. Example 1x, 3x, 6x, 12, 30x.

7. Centesimal Scale: The scale was first introduce by Dr Samuel Hahnemann and is considered as the classical method where by the first potency should contain one-hundredth part of the original drug and each succeeding potency should contain one-hundredth part of the potency preceding it.
The scale id denoted by suffixing "C' to the number indicating the potency. In practice it may also be denoted by simple numberical with no suffix such as
1, 3, 30, 200, 1000, etc.

7. Trituration : The object of trituration is to reduce the drug to the finest possible powder as well as to energise it. Whether a trituration is prepared manually or by a machine, the following process is adopted.

Take one part by weight of the crude drug and one part by weight of Milk Sugar in coarse powder. Mix the two for a moment and then rub the mixture throughly for six minutes. After six minutes scrape the pestle and mortar with a spatula to that nothing adheres to the sides of the mortar or to the pestle, stir the mixture for a total time of four minutes. Then again rub the mixture with pestle for six minutes and stir for four minutes. Now add 3 part by weight sugar of milk and repeat the processes of rubbing and stirring.
Then add 5 part by weight sugar of milk and repeat the processes of rubbing and stirring. At the end of this process we get 1X potency of the homeopathic medicine.

8. Conversion of Trituration into Liquid potencies.

Disolve one part by weight of the 6X trituration in fifty parts by volume of purified water to which fifty parts by volume of dispensing alcohol is added. Give 10 succussion to the liquid mixture. The no. 7X dilution from 6x trituration is not possible.

The first potency prepared from 6x trituration is 8x (4c). Subsequent potencies may be prepared either in the decimal or centesimal scale in the usual manner but in preparing the first potency from 8x potency use dilute alcohol, 9x and higher are made in dispensing alcohol.

Acupuncture & Its treatment

Acupuncture Provides Pain Relief for Many Patients
Acupuncture is an ancient practice in which very fine needles are inserted into the skin at strategic points on the body to relieve pain and treat disease. The Chinese developed acupuncture centuries ago in accordance with the theory that energy flows through channels between the surface of the body and internal organs.

Chinese medicine maintains that the more than 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body connect with 12 main and eight secondary “meridians” or channels. Pain and disease are the result of these channels becoming blocked. By placing needles at one end of the channel or the other, healthy energy can be restored.

Western medicine’s view is that the placement of acupuncture needles at specific pain points releases endorphins and opioids, the body’s natural painkillers, and perhaps immune system cells as well as neurotransmitters and neurohormones in the brain. Research has shown that glucose and other bloodstream chemicals become elevated after acupuncture.

According to the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, there is also evidence that stimulating acupuncture points enables electromagnetic signals to be relayed at a greater rate than under normal conditions. This may increase the flow of healing or pain-killing natural chemicals to injured areas.

When pain is relieved, patients feel a greater sense of well-being overall, physically and emotionally. As a result, they may heal faster. Most acupuncture points coincide with the “trigger points” described by Janet G. Travell, MD, whose textbook, Myofascial Pain & Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual, is widely used at pain management centers in the Western world.


How is it done?
Acupuncture needles are metallic and sterile, used once and discarded. Needles are solid (not hollow, as are hypodermic or vaccination needles) and are slightly bigger than the width of human hair. Patients can feel the needle pierce the skin, but there is no pain. The puncture site is usually swabbed with a disinfectant beforehand. When the needle locates the trigger point, there may be a “grabbing” sensation, followed by a relaxed, heavy feeling and overall body warmth. Some patients even fall asleep during treatment. Side effects of acupuncture are rare, but there may be some soreness or light headedness following treatment.

There are several acupuncture methods beyond simply inserting needles. Sometimes a low electrical charge is sent through the needles and sometimes the needles are heated with a heat lamp or “moxa stick,” which is an herbal heat source that looks and burns like a cigar. Sometimes two needles are used at one trigger point. Sometimes the needles are twirled or manipulated by hand, and sometimes needles aren’t used at all, but trigger points are massaged instead.

At the pain management center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, a major affiliate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, the first acupuncture treatment typically consists of inserting needles in the body and points on the ear that correspond with body trigger points. Trigger points are determined by the location of pain. For example, trigger points for treating headaches include locations on the thumb, knee and wrist. Knee pain may be treated with needles inserted into the toe, face and arm.

The pain management center has used acupuncture with success in treating conditions such as fibromyalgia (a chronic pain condition affecting muscles and connective tissues), chronic headaches, neck pain from whiplash, knee and hip pain from arthritis, chronic abdominal pain, asthma, pain caused by sickle-cell anemia and even shingles (a painful rash caused by a virus).

According to a National Institutes of Health panel, convened in November of 1997, clinical studies have shown that acupuncture is helpful in treating nausea caused by surgical anesthesia and cancer chemotherapy, dental pain after surgery, addiction, headaches, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial (connective tissue) pain, osteoarthritis, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, and to assist in stroke rehabilitation. The World Health Organization lists more than 40 conditions for which acupuncture may be used.

More and more, acupuncture is being used to supplement other forms of treatment, which is one reason patients often turn to a physician who has training in both Western medicine and acupuncture. Organizations such as the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance. and American Association of Oriental Medicine provide lists of credentialed acupuncture practitioners.

At the pain management center, insurance pays for acupuncture treatments for about 70% of patients. Otherwise, a standard acupuncture session by a physician trained in acupuncture costs $50-70. More than one treatment is typically required for results, although some patients feel better after one session.

What are Allergies?

Allergy is a reaction of the body’s immune system to a particular substance that is usually harmless otherwise. The substance to which the body might react varies from person to person and the reaction is also not necessarily similar in everyone. Everyone does not have allergies but the persons who have them may be sensitive to one or more items. There are two main types of allergies: seasonal and perennial. Seasonal allergies occur in a specific season while perennial allergies persist round the year. The exact cause of allergies is not known. Since everyone has different body chemistry, bodies of all the persons living in the same atmosphere react differently to a substance like one person in the house might be allergic to dust while the others might not be. One opinion is that the tendency to be allergic could be inherited but is not true in all cases of allergy.

Commonly found allergies are:

Cigarette Smoke Allergy
Cigarette smoke contains several irritating and toxic chemicals that might affect an individual more than the others and produce certain symptoms like nasal congestion or running nose, burning or watering of eyes, throat irritation, cough, and dysnea (shortness of breath). If the person is also asthmatic, dysnea might be much worse than others.

Cockroach Allergy
Cockroaches are one of the most commonly found domestic pest and is found even in the cleanest places. They mostly reside in the sewers and come out frequently and roam around on cooking utensils and uncovered foodstuff. Their excretions stick to the utensils and produce problems in allergic persons if used unwashed. While cockroaches can cause allergy, there is an excellent homeopathic medicine for asthma (of certain types) by the name "Blatta Orientalis" prepared from Indian cockroach. Medicine from American cockroach called "Blatta Americana" has also been prepared but is much less effective than Blatta Orientalis. Whole cockroach is used to prepare the medicine.

Dust Mite Allergy
It is caused by the microscopic organism that lives in the dust and is found where there is dust.

Food Allergy
Many people are sensitive to certain items of food like eggs, almonds, fish, wheat, milk and several other items. Problems caused by various food items may not necessarily be allergy. It could be simple intolerance. Allergic symptoms belong to nose, throat, eyes, respiratory tract, skin and digestive system.

Grass Pollen Allergy
This type is extremely difficult to prevent because going close to grass is not easy to avoid.

Hay Fever
It is also known as pollen allergy and is usually seasonal. The symptoms may be running nose, sneezing and sore throat.

House Dust Allergy
House dust can include the dust itself, food particles, stuff that enters the house with shoes, flakes of human skin as well as of animal skin if you have pets, hair, fibers of various types including those of the carpets and much more. This type of allergy is found mostly among the housewives who feel it much while dusting the house. Preventive measures include the use of mask while dusting and moist cloth for dusting. You might consider removing the carpets and having bare floors to minimize the presence of house dust.

Metal Allergy
A person can be sensitive to touch of various metals and may develop skin rash where the metal remains in contact for some time. This includes the allergy to artificial jewelry.
Odors
A person can be sensitive to different odors including but not limited to odor of food, flowers and perfumes. Allergy to odor of food can be quickly cured by homeopathic medicines.

Pet Allergy
Some people are sensitive to natural body odor of various pets.

Pollen Allergy
This type includes allergy to various types of pollen and trees. This is usually seasonal. The symptoms include running nose, sore throat, dyspnea and irritation of skin.

Homeopathy is an effective and safe treatment system, which is based on Nature's laws of cure. Homeopathy aims at stimulating body's own healing mechanism to counter the manifesting disorders.

About Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a medical system that was introduced by a German doctor Samuel Hahnemann over two hundred years back. The system is based on the Law of Similars, which was described by Hahnemann using a Latin phrase, "Similia Similibus Curentur", which means, "Let likes be cured by likes". Hahnemann named the system as Homeopathy. The philosophy is that the symptoms produced by a drug when given in strong doses to a healthy person, can be cured by the same medicine in higher dilutions in potentized form. In other words, minimal doses can relieve diseases that have symptoms similar to those created by strong doses of the drug. This is a philosophy that works excellently but is not understood by those used to material doses of modern medicines.

Homeopathy is a powerful healing system that has stood the test of time and is especially known for its effectiveness in chronic diseases but that does not mean that it is no good in acute cases. § 1 - Physician
The physician's high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure, as it is termed. 1

1 His mission is not, however, to construct so-called systems, by interweaving empty speculations and hypotheses concerning the internal essential nature of the vital processes and the mode in which diseases originate in the interior of the organism, (whereon so many physicians have hitherto ambitiously wasted their talents and their time); nor is it to attempt to give countless explanations regarding the phenomena in diseases and their proximate cause (which must ever remain concealed), wrapped in unintelligible words and an inflated abstract mode of expression, which should sound very learned in order to astonish the ignorant - whilst sick humanity sighs in vain for aid. Of such learned reveries (to which the name of theoretic medicine is given, and for which special professorships are instituted) we have had quite enough, and it is now high time that all who call themselves physicians should at length cease to deceive suffering mankind with mere talk, and begin now, instead, for once to act, that is, really to help and to cure.

§ 2 - Higest Cure
The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of the health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable, and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles.

§ 3 - What To Cure
If the physician clearly perceives what is to be cured in diseases, that is to say, in every individual case of disease (knowledge of disease, indication), if he clearly perceives what is curative in medicines, that is to say, in each individual medicine (knowledge of medical powers), and if he knows how to adapt, according to clearly defined principles, what is curative in medicines to what he has discovered to be undoubtedly morbid in the patient, so that the recovery must ensue - to adapt it, as well in respect to the suitability of the medicine most appropriate according to its mode of action to the case before him (choice of the remedy, the medicine indicated), as also in respect to the exact mode of preparation and quantity of it required (proper dose), and the proper period for repeating the dose; - if, finally, he knows the obstacles to recovery in each case and is aware how to remove them, so that the restoration may be permanent, then he understands how to treat judiciously and rationally, and he is a true practitioner of the healing art .

In early 1987, a land trip by Toyota Land Cruises escorted by Mujaheddin Freedom Fighters treads its way early in the morning over the treacherous Khyaber Pass in Northern Pakistan. The vehicles are carrying Malaysian Homeopathic Medical Volunteers from The Registerd Malaysian Homeopathic Medical Practitioners Association (MRHP); they were on their way to staff a Mobile Homoeopathic Clininc in freedom fighters' held territory, near Jalalabad inside Afghanistan.

There they will treat civilians and Mujahideen wounded in the war between Mujahideen Afghan Freedom Fighters and the Soviet backed Government.

Around the world, in war zones and areas striken by natural disasters, this special breed of homeopathic doctor and nurse are infusing the Hippocratic Oath with fresh force, risking their lives out of commitment to what Prof Dr Nik Omar, one of the founders of this volunteer-medics movement calls "The duty to mankind"

These are some of the first ever medical volunteers from homeopathic groups in the world to treat tribespeople for diarrhoea and malaria in Yala, Narathiwat, and Nakornsithamarat in Thailand. In slum ares in Colombo, the same group were giving free treatment for worms and tropical diseases to children and adults in rural areas of Walliwata Bridge. In the deep jungles of Malaysia, they treat the 'Orang Asli' ( aborigines ) for skin disesaes and jaundice.They are there cleaning bandages on victims of land mines and gunshot under mortar fire and bombing in Afghanistan and giving treatment for ailments to the refugees in camps around Peshawar, Pakistan, etc.

Every year approximately 50 homoeopathic doctors from Malaysia give up their annual holidays. They make their medical knowledge and skills available to the charity - Homeopathic Doctors Without Barriers, free of charge for a period of a least four days, and up to eight weeks. On top of this, they even pay for their flight to help the country to which they are sent.

In 1979 Prof Dr Nik Omar, the President of the Association established the organisation in Kota Bharu with the aim of providing medical help in countries with low levels of medical provision. Since then he has been able to arrange almost 80 assigments worldwide, including Malaysia. They work in various projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Colombo, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and Indonesia.

They volunteer for all kinds of reasons. Some serve out of moral duty, others adventure and challenge. Some grasp the opportunity to be in the real life laboratory where nearly every case is an emergency.

Many of these members discover that much of what they learned at The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia is irrelevant to the life and death crises and health needs of millions of the world's poorest people and finally decided to venture forth as the Malaysian Homeopathic Volunteer Medical Corps.

Prof Dr Nik Omar, 49, the founder member of the group, vividly recalls his apprehension. Early one morning in Autumn 1987, the Malaysian Volunteers were discussing some of the cases they had treated the day before. As it happened, the mountainside also made an excellent lookout from which to scan the skies for approaching MIG 25 Fighter Bombers. All of a sudden, a dozen bombs dropped around our hospital, but they were poorly targeted and we all were safe. It became so, that throughout our service in Afghanistan, the bombing was a routine and there was bombing at our camp near the Pakistani border almost every day and night. It was a strain to our voulnteers, who had also to cope with the lack of equitment and medicines, and a workload of over 150 patients a day with artillery shell exploding overhead.

" There is a tremendous responsibility in knowing that you are the only doctor in the desert for 20,000 to 50,000 people. You are often alone in making a decision on who should treated and who should be sent for further emergency treatment in a hosiptal 300 to 400 kilometers away. And when you are alone, you are always thinking, "Maybe I was wrong."

The idea of forming the volunteer group in Malaysia, started in London in 1975 when Dr Nik Omar met with a member of the French-based organisation Médicines Sans Frontières who invited him to join the group but he refused due to his pressing studies in England. He came back to Malaysia in 1977 and wondered about the possibilities of setting up a similar volunteers' group based on Malaysian cultures.

The nucleus started in 1979 during the flood seasons on the East Coast of Kelantan. When it was started the sole member was Dr Nik Omar, but by the end of 1998 there were 500 members of MRHP and 50 active members in the volunteer group. Ever since it started in 1979 more than 50,000 Malays in rural areas already get free tretament from this group, with various projects all over Malaysia.

Prof Dr Nik Omar is always ready with new assignments and duties to carry out charity's organisational work and he is proud of the fact that almost all his assignemtns are successfully done well in time.
" We are not carrying out development works. We are not able to bring any changes in our patients' living conditions, nor in structures of the countries concerned," adds Dr Che Musa Che Mohammad, an active volunteer who has served on many missions abroad.

Nevertheless the work in the slums, where the doctors also live during their stay in the Third World, gives personal satisfaction. It is not only important that acute hardship and pain can be alleviated. "In relation to the experience we take home with us, we take a lot more from the people there, than we actually invest ourselves," says homeopathic paediatrician Associate Professor Dr Mohd Nasir bin Mohd Zain, who has just returned from Colombo, in Sri Lanka slum areas off Waliwata Bridge. He is also the secretary general of The Asian Homeopathic Medical League (AHML) for the Malaysian Chapter.

Dr Mohammad Ali Hamzah, who served in Pakistani Refugee Camps, told us that he has learnt a great deal from the people in those areas who radiate vitality and confidence in spite of their poverty. " When you return from such trip, you stand above the everyday concerns of the normal Malaysian, " says Professor Dr Mohammad Hairuddin Hamid, who is also president of MRHP Johor Branch. He has served in Afghanistan and Pakistan, while his brother Dr Maohmad Fauzy Hamid served in Sri Lanka for two weeks.

Inexperienced doctors are not sent to the projects. "The doctors have to fulfil certain requirements. In addition to qualification, character is also important. Anyone who is squearmish and can't do without sweet-smelling bath water would do better to stay at home," sums up Dr (Mrs) Faridah Awang Hamat, another volunteer who just returned from Nakorn Sithamarat, Thailand's worst flooded disaster area.

The aid provided by Doctors Without Barriers is financed exclusively by members of MRHP, donations and support from a group of sponsors who bear the administrative costs. "One hundred percent of the money donated goes directy to the projects, " stated Dr Mohd Nasir, who is also finance conroller of the association. With five volunteer staff he runs an office, a small room attached to the Homeopathic Medical Center owned by Dr Nik Omar, at Kota Bharu, Kelantan, 450 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, near the Thai border.

The Controversy Over Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a type of alternative medicine that some people really follow. Others find it to be nothing but some hype. With so much conflicting information on the subject though it can be hard to know if you should try it or not. Many individuals have turned to these natural remedies when modern medicine products failed to give them results.

Sometimes it is due to the fact that natural ingredients offer the same benefits but without side effects. For someone that needs to take ongoing medications the side effects can make it hard to go about their daily routine. That isn’t the case with natural remedies. There is also the issue of the cost involved. It can be expensive even with health insurance to pay for prescription medications all the time.

The medical field is strongly against homeopathy because they fear people will self treat various ailments. Since so many health concerns can have similar symptoms it is quite possible for the wrong diagnosis to be found. As a result a person can end up with a more severe medical problem.

Yet many individuals will tell you they have been misdiagnosed at the doctor’s office as well. They have had to try medicine after medicine in an effort to find out what is wrong with them and how to control it. That can be very expensive as well as frustrating. The days where people assumed the doctor knows best though are behind us. More people are taking an active stand when it comes to their health.

It is still a good idea to get regular check ups when you use homeopathy. Your doctor may not agree with your use of it but won’t refuse to see you because of it. Make sure you are very honest about what methods you are using. That way they can help you to get the most benefits for your health concerns.

There have been plenty of studies out there about homeopathy. In some of them the research has shown that a placebo effect takes place. With others the information was inconclusive to determine if the natural remedies worked or not. Many individuals have found results though while others didn’t. That is the same scenario with the products offered by modern medicine though.

You will find that throughout the course of history forms of homeopathy have been used. They are more evident in some cultures than in others. You can see some great concepts among those people such as the Chinese. They often live for a very long time and they don’t suffer from many typical health concerns. It just may be due to the fact that they regularly engage in homeopathy as a form of preventative medicine.

If you have a particular type of illness you should take a look to find out what types of homeopathy may work for you. Since these natural remedies aren’t going to cause you any harm there is no reason why you shouldn’t see if they can offer you benefits. You may be surprised at the results you get. Make sure you carefully research what remedies can be used for your particular needs.

Definition of Tumor

Tumor: An abnormal mass of tissue. Tumors are a classic sign of inflammation, and can be benign or malignant (cancerous). There are dozens of different types of tumors. Their names usually reflect the kind of tissue they arise in, and may also tell you something about their shape or how they grow. For example, a medulloblastoma is a tumor that arises from embryonic cells (a blastoma) in the inner part of the brain (the medulla). Diagnosis depends on the type and location of the tumor. Tumor marker tests and imaging may be used; some tumors can be seen (for example, tumors on the exterior of the skin) or felt (palpated with the hands).

Treatment is also specific to the location and type of the tumor. Benign tumors can sometimes simply be ignored, or they may be reduced in size (debulked) or removed entirely via surgery. For cancerous tumors, options include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. In stage 3 and 4, surgery should be avoided as it give more harms than good

Kira-kira 350 orang doktor-doktor pakar dalam perubatan alternatif telah menghadiri Konferen Homeopathy dan Akupunktur yang terbesar dialaf baru disini baru-baru ini.

Perasmian dilakukan oleh Menteri besar Kelantan Darulnaim, YB Dato Haji Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

" Saya ingin mengucapak taniah kepada ahli jawatankuasa pengajur yang telah sudi memileh Kelantan sebagai tuanrumah persidangan homeopati dan akupunktur peringkat antarabangsa. Ini menandakan keyakinan negara-negara luar terhadap kemajuan homeopati dan akupunktur di negara kita. Saya mengharapkan agar tuan-tuan dapat mengemelingkan tenaga bagi mencari jalan untuk membantu meningkatkan taraf kesihatan rakyat dinegara ini," demekian kata Dato Nik Aziz.

Pada Majlis yang sama beliau telah merasmikan 'Projek kampus Baru Fakulti Homeopathy Malaysia dan Hospital' yang akan dibina di Kg Gelang Mas, Pasir Mas, Kelantan. Projek yang menelan belanja kira-kira RM 3 juta ini dijangka siap sepenuhnya pada tahun 2002.

" Saya mengharapkan bila siapnya kampus baru ini, lebih ramai orang-orang yang berminat terhadap perubatan ini dapat datang ke Kelantan untuk mempelajari sistem perubatan ini. Kerjaan Kelantan bersedia untuk memberi kerjasama bagi membantu menjayakan projek tersebut, " demekian ujarnya.

On Occassion of 10th International Homeopathic Science Conference in Malaysia

I would like to congratulate The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia and The Asian Homoeopathic Medical League for hosting the 10th Homoeopathic Science Congress.

This is the second time such an International Homeopathic Science Conference (IHS) is being held in Malaysia. That The Faculty of Homeopathy Malaysia has gained support and confidence from members of Asian countries is reflected in the hosting of this conference.

It is hoped that the congress will deliberate on ways in which to improve homeopathic science not only in Malaysia but worldwide as this could provide a useful complement to modern medicine. I extend my best wishes to all participants and hope that their efforts will be fruitful in helping to solve some of the health problems in the country.

Homeopathy A Good Companion To Chiropractic Naturally

If you're looking for a natural treatment alternative and a boost to your practice, homeopathy may be the answer. At least, so says Dr. Gill Gilly. The 83-year-old naturopath says he studied homeopathy in Europe after his "retirement" as a minister because he'd seen a little of what the natural healing method could accomplish.

“I’d seen great, fantastic results, and I wanted to know more about it,” shares Dr. Gilly.

Gilly, who was born in a small town in Oklahoma, says their only town doctor was a homeopath who also did manipulations…thus introducing Dr. Gilly to natural medicine and chiropractic at an early age. That and other encounters throughout his life eventually led him to a new career in homeopathy. Because of his exposure to both homeopathy and chiropractic, he quickly saw how the two could fit together.

“The average patient today is always looking for the magic pill. They’re used to taking medicine,” explains Gilly. “The people who actually try chiropractic realize the adjustments and the treatments maintain their health, but they like to feel they’re doing something, too.”

Gilly says many chiropractors are aware of homeopathy’s effectiveness, but don’t realize how it can benefit their practice. That’s why he sometimes comes out of retirement to conduct seminars that show DCs exactly what homeopathy can do for them.

“A lot of doctors have heard of homeopathy, they realize what it can do, but I try to give not just the background, but a really strong, working knowledge,” says Dr. Gilly. One example, he says, is his workshop at the International Chiropractic Appreciation Mega Event (ICAME) in Las Vegas in January. “My workshop will help doctors understand how and why it works with them.”

Another reason Gilly says homeopathy is such a good fit for chiropractors is that it isn’t time-consuming or difficult—or dangerous.

“The average doctor today, whether a medical doctor, chiropractor, naturopath or dentist, concentrates on a specialty,” he says. “That’s why homeopathy is so good, because it can do no harm. It’s never going to have a side-effect.”

Dr. Gilly also says that, while chiropractic care can be effective for many conditions, homeopathy can bridge the gaps, such as joint pain from arthritis.

“People who have discomfort can get relief from the discomfort. Homeopathy can help a patient respond quicker to your adjustments. And, of course, that builds your reputation as a healer.”

And, Gilly says, boosting your reputation as a healer can boost your practice to almost unheard-of levels.

“With homeopathy, you can support the treatment you’re giving, and you can do it harmlessly and effectively. In fact, it usually surpasses the expected results of both the patient and the doctor. The doctor that uses homeopathy sees his practice go right through the roof,” he says.

“When someone who has been to ten other doctors comes to your practice and starts getting results, they can’t wait to tell all their friends and relatives. Within a very short time, it builds.”
