Indian govt offers 20 scholarships on traditional medicine
KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian Government is offering 20 scholarships to Malaysians who want to pursue traditional medicine.
This follows the visit of Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in October last year.
“The High Commission welcomes applications from interested Malaysians who wish to pursue courses on traditional system of medicine,” the Indian High Commission said in a statement yesterday.
Eleven scholarships will be offered for the Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), five for the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Sciences (BSMS), two for the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) and two for the Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS).
The scholarships will be offered for studies in selected colleges.
Application forms are available at the Education Section of the Indian High Commission here.
Candidates should check their eligibility for the course they wish to pursue, should be proficient in English and should not have any serious health problems.
The scholarships do not include air travel but provides tuition fees, living allowances, contingency grants, house rental allowance and medical benefits.

Can Hepatitis B Spread by Sexual Contact ?
How many kinds of viral hepatitis are there?
Scientists have identified eight types. In the US, the main threats are hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
Can all types be spread by sexual contact?
Hepatitis A, B, and C can all be sexually transmitted, although sexual transmission of hepatitis C is less common.
Hepatitis A spreads via fecal-oral contact, which can occur if there is direct oral-anal contact or contact with fingers or objects that have been in or near the anus of an infected person. If even a microscopic amount of virus-laden feces gets into the mouth, infection can result.
Hepatitis B spreads via contact with blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and other body fluids of someone who is infected with the virus. The hepatitis B virus is 50 to 100 times more infectious than HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, and is easily transmitted during sexual activity.
Hepatitis C is spread through contact with an infected person’s blood -- which may be present because of genital sores or cuts or menstruation.
Are men and women equally at risk of getting and spreading hepatitis through sex?
The risk is determined by a person’s behavior, not his/her gender.
Men who have sex with men are 10 to 15 times more likely than the general population to be infected with hepatitis B.
Viral hepatitis is also more common among people who come from parts of the world where the disease is endemic, including Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Infection is also more common among current or former users of inhaled or injected drugs. People with tattoos or piercings are also more likely to be infected because the needles used to create these body decorations sometimes harbor the hepatitis virus.
Of course, just because someone belongs to one of these risk groups doesn’t mean he or she is infected. And just because someone doesn’t belong to a risk group doesn’t mean he or she is free of infection.
How can I make sure my partner is free of hepatitis before we have sex?
There is no surefire symptom or sign to indicate that someone has hepatitis. Some infected people look perfectly healthy even in advanced stages of illness. Experts recommend talking openly with sex partners about the risk of hepatitis and other sexually transmitted infections.
Of course, if you notice that someone has yellowing of the skin or eyes (a condition known as jaundice), consider that a red flag. Other symptoms of hepatitis include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, joint or abdominal pain, and clay-colored bowel movements. Blood tests are available to help determine if someone has hepatitis that could spread through sex.

What are gallstones?
Gallstones (often misspelled gall stones, or gall stone) are stones that form in the gall (bile). (The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ just below the liver and stores the bile secreted by the liver.)
* Bile is a watery liquid made by the cells of the liver that is important for digesting food in the intestine, particularly fat.
* Liver cells secrete the bile they make into small canals within the liver.
* The bile flows through the canals and into larger collecting ducts within the liver (the intrahepatic bile ducts).
* The bile then flows within the intrahepatic bile ducts out of the liver and into the extrahepatic bile ducts-first into the hepatic bile ducts, then into the common hepatic duct, and finally into the common bile duct.
What Are The symptom of Gallstone
Some people have no signs or symptoms and are unaware of their gallstones. (The gallstones are "silent.") Their gallstones often are found as a result of tests (for example, ultrasound or X-ray examination of the abdomen) performed while evaluating medical conditions other than gallstones. Symptoms can appear later in life, however, after many years without symptoms. Thus, over a period of five years, approximately 10% of people with silent gallstones will develop symptoms. Once symptoms develop, they are likely to continue and often will worsen.
Gallstones are blamed for many symptoms they do not cause. Among the symptoms gallstones do not cause are:
* dyspepsia (including abdominal bloating and discomfort after eating),
* intolerance to fatty foods,
* belching, and
* flatulence (passing gas or farting).
When signs and symptoms of gallstones occur, they virtually always occur because the gallstones obstruct the bile ducts.
The most common symptom of gallstones is biliary colic. Biliary colic is a very specific type of pain, occurring as the primary or only symptom in 80% of people with gallstones who develop symptoms. Biliary colic occurs when the extrahepatic ducts-cystic, hepatic or common bile-are suddenly blocked by a gallstone. (Slowly-progressing obstruction, as from a tumor, does not cause biliary colic.) Behind the obstruction, fluid accumulates and distends the ducts and gallbladder. In the case of hepatic or common bile duct obstruction, this is due to continued secretion of bile by the liver. In the case of cystic duct obstruction, the wall of the gallbladder secretes fluid into the gallbladder. It is the distention of the ducts or gallbladder that causes biliary colic.
Homeopathic Treatment
There are not less than 50 remedies in homeopathy to treat gall stone . If your symptoms match with the selection of homeopathic remedies according to similimum, than gall stone will be removed within few weeks of taking homeopathic medication, but if the stone are large and the pain still there, operation or surgery is a must.

Is It Safe to Have Sex During Pregnancy
Sex is a natural, normal part of pregnancy -- if you're having a normal pregnancy. The movement and penetration of intercourse, in itself, won't harm the baby. Your baby is protected by your abdomen and the muscular walls of the uterus. Your baby is also cushioned by the fluid in the amniotic sac.
The contractions of orgasm aren't the same as labor contractions. Still, as a general safety precaution, some doctors advise avoiding sex in the last few weeks of pregnancy, believing that hormones in semen called prostaglandins can stimulate contractions.
One exception? Women who are overdue and want to induce labor. Some doctors believe that prostaglandins in semen actually induce labor in a full-term or past-due pregnancy, since the gel used to "ripen" the cervix and induce labor also contains prostaglandins. But other doctors believe this semen/labor connection is only theoretical and that having sex doesn't trigger labor.
But if you have a high-risk pregnancy -- for instance, with a complication such as preterm labor or risk of miscarriage -- your doctor may advise you to avoid sex during pregnancy. If you have any question about whether yours is a high-risk pregnancy or the safety of sex for you -- even if sex has been safe for you in past pregnancies -- be sure to ask your doctor.

* Depression. If you are tearful, sad, anxious, or have big mood swings, talk to your doctor. If you are depressed during your pregnancy, you may have a hard time bonding with your baby after delivery. Depression can be treated so that you and your baby will be able to bond.
During the days and weeks after delivery (postpartum period), you can expect that your body will change as it returns to its nonpregnant condition. As with pregnancy changes, postpartum changes are different for every woman. Some problems, such as high blood pressure, hemorrhoids, or diabetes, may continue after delivery. If the mother's blood sugar is not controlled, this could cause serious problems for the baby before and during delivery.

This is a frequent occurrence during delivery. Nearly half of babies have the umbilical cord wrapped around something (neck, shoulder, arm, etc.), and this generally poses no particular problem for them.
In a few cases, the cord will be wrapped so tightly around the baby's neck (after delivery of the head but before the shoulders are delivered) that you cannot get the rest of the baby out without risk of tearing the umbilical cord.
* If you can easily slip the cord over the baby's head, go ahead and do that.
* If the cord is relatively loose, and allows the baby to be born with the cord around its' neck, go ahead and do that.
* If the cord is tight and disallows any manipulation, double clamp the cord and cut between the clamps. This will free the cord. With this approach, prompt delivery of the rest of the baby is important.

A generous episiotomy will give you more room to work, but may be unnecessary if the vulva is very stretchy and compliant.

At this stage, the baby is still unable to breath and the umbilical cord is likely occluded.
Without rushing, move steadily toward a prompt delivery.
Placing your finger in the baby's mouth may help you control the delivery of the head.
Try not to let the head "pop" out of the birth canal. A slower, controlled delivery is less traumatic

Ptosis (Drooping Eyelid)

Ptosis refers to drooping of an upper eyelid of one or both eyes. The droop may be barely noticeable, or the lid can descend over the entire pupil. Ptosis happens in both children and adults, but usually occurs because of aging.
Ptosis Symptoms and Signs
The most obvious sign of ptosis is the drooping eyelid. Depending on how severely the lid droops, people with ptosis may have difficulty seeing. Sometimes people tilt their heads back to try to see under the lid or raise their eyebrows repeatedly to try to lift the eyelids.
The degree of droopiness varies from one person to the next. If you think you may have ptosis, compare a recent photo of your face with one from 10 or 20 years ago, and you'll likely see a difference in the eyelid skin.
Ptosis can look similar to dermatochalasis, a group of connective tissue diseases that cause skin to hang in folds. These diseases are associated with less-than-normal elastic tissue formation. Your eye doctor should be able to tell whether or not this is the cause of your drooping eyelids.
What Causes Ptosis?
Ptosis can be present at birth (congenital ptosis) or develop due to aging, injury or an aftereffect of cataract or other eye surgery.
This condition also can be caused by a problem with the muscles lifting the eyelid, called levators. Sometimes a person's facial anatomy causes difficulties with the levator muscles.
An eye tumor, neurological disorder or systemic disease like diabetes may result in drooping eyelids.
Ptosis Treatment
Surgery usually is the best treatment for drooping eyelids. Your surgeon tightens levator muscles to lift eyelids, giving you improved vision and appearance. In very severe cases involving weakened levator muscles, your surgeon attaches the eyelid under the eyebrow. This allows the forehead muscles to substitute for levator muscles in lifting the eyelid. Eyelid surgery also is called blepharoplasty.
After surgery, the eyelids may not appear symmetrical, even though the lids are higher than before surgery. Very rarely, eyelid movement may be lost.
It is important to choose your surgeon carefully, since poorly done surgery could result in an undesirable appearance or in dry eyes from lifted eyelids not closing completely.
Before agreeing to ptosis surgery, ask how many procedures your surgeon has done. Also ask to see before-and-after photos of previous patients, and ask if you can talk to any of them about the experience.

Dan siapa saja seorang isteri yang tidak berbakti kepada suaminya, maka ia mendapat laknat dari Allah dan Malaikat serta semua manusia.

Siapa saja seorang Isteri bermuka muram di muka suaminya, maka ia dalam kemurkaan Allah swt hingga ia dapat membuat suasana yang riang gembira kepada suaminya dan mohon keampunannya.

Open Letter From a Mum
First Episode
My son passed out while driving and was brought to General hospital> He was already ok when ambulance arrived but paramedic decided to bring him to GH anyway. At GH I was asked history of epilepsy in family which I never known we had any and even though ok, my son was still advised by doctor at GH to be admitted for CT scan.
Second episode
My son was admitted to a Privare medical centre [ PMC] near our house after being transfered from GH where he was earlier admitted for 2 days.
I brought along films from CT Scan at GH and showed it to one doctor at PMC. My son was then asked to lie down on bed to be examined. At the same time and to my shock, I was called to the registration counter and ask to sign an aggreement stating that I am willing to pay the total costs of treatment which is +-RM$ 50,000.00 !!!
I asked the staff, why so much when my son's illness has not been diagnosed yet and he was even in critical condition and was told that's the hospital procedure and that's the amount normally charge for neuro condition.
Not enough with that, my son was later admitted to ICU which cost RM 438 per night ( bed only). Only to be told by neuro specialist that it was not at all neccessary ( for him to be at ICU) since he was ok and he was transferred to medical ward with has been charged RM 1,800 for their mistakes.
And when the doctor suggested my son for angiography, I was obliged but change my mind at the last minute when told of the risk of haemorrhage during angio. The next day, I was not around but the doctor was furious, so angry questioning my son why your mum didnt allow angiography to be done on him.
I talked to the doctor later and shut his mouth with these sentence
" Doctor, the boy lying on bed there is your patient but he is at the same time my son. Had anything happen to him, he will be your ex patient, but he will always be my son and this is not a 10 days cooling period of matter, if you dont like it, you can return and get refund"
He was a bit soft with me later but not without planting me with fears of consequences of this and that.
Third Episode:
" Saya terkejut dan perit" !! I now decided, there's no more neuro specialist or medical Centre for my son, or drugs which need to be taken for a long time knowing so well of the side effects.
Prior to bringing my sons to see Dr Nik Omar for homeopathic treatment, I read a lot about homeopathy and alternative medicines online and I am very confident this is the best way to treat my son with peace in mind.

Dear Dr Omar, please help me.
I was diagnose for hyperhidrosis since age 14 years. The modern doctor suggested for Endoscopiy Thorasic surgery claiming no side effects. It was very convincing and I agreed for surgery and my symphetatic nerves were cut off st T2 T3 T4. Now after three years of surgery I suffered from compensatory sweating .
I sweat from my chest to my toe profusely and I do not sweat at my upper part at all which is also a problem. I can soak my clothers within 5 minutes of standing in the sun. I overheat because my body cannot dissipate heat from sweating. Resulting my lower body to sweat 5 time more than before operation.
I was upset because the surgeon said that there were no side effect but now I suffer from this condition. How long should I suffer ?
I am depressed and have fear of my future because of my condition and I am still very young.
I met the same doctor who operated me, wanted to seek some advice. he claimed that he can do nothing. I am very mad. Before operation I can still walk under the sun without soaking my cloathes but now I cant. I did not asked for this.
Prior surgery I had injection my my armpit to reduce the sweating. After a while I cannot stand the treatment and opt for above surgery.

Prostatitis is one of the common infectious disease of the male genital system and caused by the invasion of bacteria through penetrating prostatic tube after its invasion of the urethra.

Enuresis is the involuntary discharge of urine during sleep. It is commonly seen in children, but is only considered as an abnormal condition when the child is over three years old and the involuntary urination continue.
Don’t be surprised if not treated, enuresis can be prolong till adult life. Some says it may be due to psychological or mental disorder, some say due to worms and homeopath says it due to the weakness of vital force in the body.
According to TCM , its causes are thought to be related to the lungs, spleen, kidney and bladder.
Clinical Manifestation
The chief feature of this disorder is the involuntary discharge of urine during sleep at night. In minor cases, it may happen once fortnightly, but in severe cases, it may occur many times one night. In chronic cases, this condition may last for over ten years and it is also seen in adult.
