Homeopathy In England

With Special Edition – The History of the Faculty of Homeopathy London.
Patron: Her Majesty the Queen of England.

The Faculty of Homeopathy London was founded in 1844 by Dr Frederick Harvey Foster Quinn. At the time of it s formation it was known as The British Homeopathic Society. Dr Quinn formed the Society at dinner party he gave to commemorate Hahnemann’s death one year before, in 1843. It was an unincorporated association with aims to advance the principles and practice of homeopathy.

In 1943, The British Homeopathy Society became the Faculty of Homeopathy and was incorporated under the companies Act 1929 as a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital.

In 150 it was thought expedient that the members of the existing Faculty should be incorporated and has power coffered upon them by an Act of Parliament. The Act is known as The Faculty of Homeopathy Act 1950.

The objects of the Faculty under the Act are to:
Work for the advancement and principles and the extension of the practice of homeopathy and to do all such other things as are incidental or the Faculty may deem conducive to the attainment of these objects.

The Faculty meets in The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, Great Ormond Street, London WC1N 3HR in the month of October, February and May and in Provinces twice a year. The British Homeopathic Journal is published quarterly by the Faculty.
